FAQ

Biopots

Yes. Lignum Vitae biodegradable pots are made from 100% plant-based materials and contain no petroleum-based plastics, polymers, or microplastics. They are fully plastic-free and environmentally responsible.

No. These biodegradable pots are designed to maintain their shape and strength during normal indoor or greenhouse use. They remain stable throughout the early growth stages and begin to decompose only after being planted into soil under natural conditions.

Yes. One of the main advantages of Lignum Vitae BioPots is that the plant can be planted directly into soil along with the pot. This eliminates the need to remove the plant and significantly reduces transplant shock.

Decomposition time depends on soil type, moisture, and irrigation conditions. The pot breaks down gradually and naturally, eventually turning into organic matter that enriches the soil.

Yes. The plant-based structure of the pot allows air exchange through the pot wall, supporting soil breathing and healthy root development while helping prevent root rot.

Yes.
The formulation of this product is designed to allow plant roots to penetrate and grow through the pot walls, even before the pot is planted into the soil, enabling natural root development and healthy plant growth.

Biodegradable Grow Bags

  • Reduced transplant shock and root damage, as the plant can grow and be planted without removal from the container

  • Environmentally friendly, fully biodegradable with no plastic residue left in the soil after decomposition

  • Saves time and labor, by eliminating the need to remove plants from pots during transplantation

There is no need to tear the grow bag.
The Lignum Vitae grow bag is designed so that plant roots can easily grow through its structure, allowing the seedling to be planted directly into the soil without restriction or root damage.

Yes.
It is suitable for a wide range of plants, including vegetables, leafy greens, seasonal flowers, greenhouse seedlings, and even young fruit tree saplings. For specific or specialized plants, technical consultation is available to ensure optimal results.

The biodegradation rate depends on environmental factors such as soil type, moisture level, temperature, and microbial activity. After the grow bag is planted into the soil, natural decomposition begins gradually. Typically, within 4 to 12 weeks, the grow bag walls start to break down and integrate naturally into the soil.

Plastic-Free Paper Cups

In most conventional paper cups on the market, a polyethylene (PE) coating is used.
PE is a petroleum-based polymer that, like plastic containers, poses serious environmental and health concerns and is not biodegradable.

Lignum Vitae’s solution is the use of a thin film made from bio-based and biodegradable polymers, which is laminated onto paper as a sustainable alternative to polyethylene. This innovative approach prevents liquid penetration while eliminating petroleum plastics, helping protect the environment and promote safer, healthier food and beverage consumption.

  • Free from petroleum-based plastics

  • No release of microplastics or harmful chemical compounds when in contact with beverages

  • No migration of ions, organic compounds, or heavy metals into the cup contents

  • Made from plant-based, biodegradable, and compostable polymers

  • Does not persist in the environment

  • Safely returns to the natural cycle

  • No chemical adhesives used to laminate the biodegradable film onto paper

  • Eliminates the risk of toxic adhesive components migrating into beverages

  • Suitable for both hot and cold drinks

Based on obtained results, the biodegradation time of this product under composting conditions (according to ISO 14855 standards) is approximately 5 months.
